Summer of 2026 public art commission by Killian Pacific to paint a mural on the Box Factory in the Old Mill district of Bend OR. This mural is part of a larger public art program for the new Jackstraw development. The design is based on the notion of aged wood panel walls and pulls inspiration from the Box Factory’s history of lumber works. The angles of the vertical designs have rough organic shaping to echo nature’s way. Additionally, the design integrates the ribbed vertical metal siding, treating the surface as not just a flat wall, but a 3 dimensional object. This mural connects to my series of works on shipping containers, which is all about using the architecture as the starting point for design.
